Focus

Open the full timer

Press Start for 25 minutes of focus. Rio naps beside you, a soft bell rings at the end, and a 5-minute break follows. Add rain, a crackling fire or Rio’s purr if you like a little sound in the background.

Keeps this 25 and 5 rhythm, with your tags and Rio’s room.

How to use it

  1. Pick one task that fits in 25 minutes, like one page of notes or ten practice questions.

  2. Press Start and work until the bell. If another thought pops up, jot it on paper and go back to the task.

  3. When Rio wakes up, take the 5-minute break: stand up, stretch, refill your water.

  4. After four rounds, take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes.

When 25 minutes fits

Twenty-five minutes is short enough to start even when a task feels big, and long enough to finish something real: a page of notes, a set of problems, a stack of email.

If you often reach the bell in the middle of good work and wish you could keep going, try a longer rhythm like the 50/10 timer.

A sample study evening

  3. Focus. Make notes on the hard parts
  4. Break. Stretch with Rio
  5. Focus. Practice questions
  6. Break. Look out of a window
  7. Focus. Check answers and list what to review
  8. Long break. 15 to 30 minutes away from the desk

Questions

Which is better, 25/5 or 50/10?

Neither is better for everyone. 25/5 makes it easy to start and gives you more breaks; 50/10 gives you longer stretches for deep work. Try each for a few days and keep the one you finish more rounds with.

Can I listen to music with the timer?

Yes. Petmodoro has three soft sounds built in (rain, a crackling fire and Rio’s purr), and music you play in another app or tab keeps playing. The timer never stops it.

Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?

Yes. It keeps time in a background tab, and the bell rings at the end of the session.

Can I change the break length?

Yes. Open the timer in the app and set your own focus and break lengths. It remembers them for next time.
